Following for Gordon King from Colonial Office. hoped that proposed Order in Council for the conferment of Hong Kong Emergency Medical Degrees will be issued shortly and will enable holders of such degrees to be registered in Hong Kong although not for the time being with General Medical Council. Grateful, therefore, if you would telegraph urgently information asked for in Miss Ruston's letter to you of 13th July.

In the meantime nominees for such degrees may be engaged under paragraph 2 of Foreign Office telegram No. 943 or 20th August.

Will you please take up with legal advisers on arrival in Hong Kong whether any interim action necessary to regularise their position pending conferment of emergency Hong Kong degrees
